Lead and ADHD.. is there a correlation between the two? Yes according to Deborah Merlin, who “raised prematurely born twin sons diagnosed with a host of medical problems and neurological challenges.” In this video, Deborah gives a detailed explaintion of what she went through with her boys for 7 years, while at all times refusing to put them on stimulant medications that teachers, doctors and family members and others were pressuring her to do.
Lead and ADHD- Mother finds link and cure
Deborah’s struggles perhaps were more challenging than most parents with a child exibiting ADHD symptoms- Besides ADHD the twins were also diagnosed with Autism, Asperger’s disease and Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD). One of the boys also had severe food allergies, facial ticks, violent outbursts and seizures. The conventional doctors she visited early on pushed for stimulant drugs to treat the symptoms such as Adderall, Ritalin and Concerta which Deborah claims “had too many serious side effects,” even though the doctor downplayed and claimed the side effects would go away after time. The ADHD drugs according to Deborah do not cure ADHD, and from her research she found that they actually stunt the growth and development in a child which includes the brain growth.
Lead and ADHD- After picking up on many other flaws and misdiagnosis’s from her pediatrician, Deborah took her most seriously affected son to an Integrative Medical Doctor who tested for heavy metal levels in the blood stream. The conclusion was that her son had elevated levels of lead and mercury which was treatable with Chelation therapy. Deborah points out that 21% of all ADHD children have lead and/or heavy metal poisoning. Even though there is a one in five chance, she stresses that every ADHD kid should be tested.
Deborah goes on to describe several other natural ADHD solutions that worked includes amino acid supplements.
After years of trails and hardship, her one most seriously ill son started to receive A’s and B’s in school, became happier and stopped exhibiting all the behavioral elements that are indicative of ADHD and his other unique illnesses. Deborah finally says that the victory over ADHD was a combination of using Alternative Medicine and dietary changes.
